Current event: BNP mayor?

I'm not sure I see where the story is for Yahoo! news. It's not a political platform, and his party of choice is irrelevant. Why do people instantly assume a BNP supporter is going to be any more likely to voice their political views at any given moment than a supporter of any other party? I know of 2 people who vote BNP, and the only reason I know is that I asked them.
