What is Treason? And why does it not apply nowadays, is it still a crime?

Britain hasn't tried anyone for treason for a long time. I think the last was probably Nazi propagandist William Joyce after WW2. So you could argue it may technically count as treason, but it's more likely to be dealt with as a public order offence unless anyone actually tries to attack the Queen.
